For her first internship Amy held the position of marketing coordinator for WorldSkills Calgary 2009.  Amy enjoys exploring the variety of options that Public Relations presents.

I guess it would be rude of me to tell you all bout my 2010 resolutions without a brief introduction. I am the current intern here at Dexterity Consulting and am finishing my degree in public relations at Mount Royal University. Originally from PEI, my education, curiosity and sense of adventure have allowed me to live and play in various locations. I am a beach bum at heart, with a keen thirst for traveling who is anxiously awaiting for the next big gust of wind to blow to my next destination.

My under grad is finally near completion, so that, along with the beginning of a new year, I find myself reflecting on the past and setting goals for the future. I guess you could say I'm making resolutions for the year ahead (which FYI, some say is suppose to be the best year yet, and since I'm an optimist I agree with this theory).

So, as a soon to be new graduate the majority of my time is spent in Lala-Land dreaming up my next conquest or adventure and wondering just where life is going to take me. Some of my resolutions or goals I recognize may be ideological, and may never come into fruition but I've set them anyway. Those that should be the easiest to achieve on my list include, eating out less and cooking at home more which carries some heavy-duty benefits, easier on the wallet and the waistline. I also plan on expanding on the books I read and want to start reading books that would have otherwise terrified me before.

Other goals on my resolution list though will take more dedication.  I mean you can't or most can't wake up one morning and say "today I'm going to run a half marathon... for FUN!" and if you can, please let me in on your secrets?  As I've been trying to run this half marathon for a while now and still have yet to complete one.

Ideally, I'd also like to find my niche. Something I can really pour my self into and work on learning everything I possibly can about and eventually maybe become an expert in ‘said' area. That way I can answer that question that plagues all university students "what do you see you yourself doing" I'll let you in on a secret, we're students we don't even really know what all the world has to offer.

With this new social media craze, I want to learn as many of the ins and outs I can. So I'll throw that on this years list as well. Of course this also means learning as much as I can during this internship about philanthropy, social impact and anything else I can. In return I promise to give you a student's perspective on philanthropy, charity, volunteering and much more.

Here's to great 2010, Best of luck on your resolutions!
